Doradus Spring Scrimmagefest

The Doradus Scrimmagefest managed by the MDSL invites you to participate in our 2025 Scrimmagefest at Grove Point Park in Springfield, VA. On the Saturday of the Scrimmagefest U-8 – U-12 teams will play and on the Sunday the U-13 – U-16 teams! 

The Doradus Scrimmagefest provides an environment for players to just play without the pressure of winning. Games are 35 minutes (17 minute halves) for the U-8 – U-12 teams and 40 minutes for the U-13 – U-16 teams (20 minute halves). Teams are guaranteed at minimum 3 games. We hope that you will consider including this great opportunity for your club to play vs. different teams throughout the DC, MD, VA region.

For those of you unfamiliar with Scrimmagefests, they are a single or two event filled with soccer for your team(s). You will play 3-4 opponents in a shortened match format and there will be no scores or standings kept. This format removes the pressure and (perceived) need to win. Our mantra is development over winning, and although we must offer tournaments for competitive purposes, our Scrimmagefests are what really stays true to our mantra.

This format in turn provides coaches the opportunity to be flexible in their team approach to use different formations, combinations and substitution patterns that they may not feel comfortable with in games that they have to win to move up a division or to win a tournament.

*Note – GotSport charges teams a software fee in the amount of $20. This fee will be reflected after you have registered and have reached the payment screen on GotSport.

For teams who register after the deadline date, there will be a $50 late fee assessed. Teams that apply after the application deadline will not have guaranteed acceptance into the tournament.

Team Check-in and Waiver

To simplify the Team Check-in and Waiver process, we have provided a PDF file for Team Managers to complete and to add to their GotSport account when uploading required documents for the tournament.



Tournament Rules

As for player check-in, we keep this process fairly simple as well. Teams are required to submit player birth certificates, rosters, and medical release forms. State sanctioned player cards are not required. There is also no limit on the number of guest players that are allowed but we require teams to stay within the maximum roster size. We also ask that you arrive to your games at least 15 minutes prior so that we know that your team is ready and prepared.

About the Scrimmagefest organizers

The Doradus Soccer Club was founded in 2004 under the Team America Program. It was formerly named Barca Academy, and it has been a staple in the community for many years.
