The Maryland Developmental Soccer League invites you to participate in a 1 day event filled with fun and excitement! Our MDSL Fall Pre-season Scrimmagefest takes place at Pinecrest Local Park in Silver Spring, MD on Sunday, August 25th for U-9 and U-10 boys teams who are Classic level to Low-level travel teams. Games are played between 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Recreation and high-level travel teams are not allowed to register for this event, but can check out our website for other tournaments.
The Scrimmagefest provides an environment for players to express themselves in small sided formats. Games are 30 minutes and teams are guaranteed a minimum of 3 games and maximum of 4 games. We hope that you will consider including this great opportunity for your club to play vs. different teams throughout the DC, MD, VA region.
For those of you unfamiliar with Scrimmagefests, they are a single or two event filled with soccer for your team(s). You will play 3-4 opponents in a shortened match format and there will be no scores or standings kept. This format removes the pressure and (perceived) need to win. Our mantra is development over winning, so our Scrimmagefests stay true to our belief. This format in turn provides coaches the opportunity to be flexible in their team approach to use different formations, combinations and substitution patterns that they may not feel comfortable with in games that they have to win to move up a division. The timing of our Scrimmagefests also allow teams with new players to see how they do with their new teammates.

*Teams with exceptional U-8 teams can apply to the U-9 age group.
Note – GotSport charges a software fee in the amount of $20. This fee will be reflected after you have registered and have reached the payment screen on GotSport.
For teams who register after the deadline date, there will be a $50 late fee assessed. Teams that apply after the application deadline will not have guaranteed acceptance into the tournament.

Team Check-in and Waiver
As for player check-in, we keep this process fairly simple as well. Teams are required to submit player birth certificates, rosters, and medical release forms. State sanctioned player cards are not required, but preferred. There is also no limit on the number of guest players that are allowed but we require teams to stay within the maximum roster size. We also ask that you arrive to your games at least 15 minutes prior so that we know that your team is ready and prepared.
To simplify the Team Check-in and Waiver process, we have provided a PDF file for Team Managers to complete and to add to their GotSport account when uploading required documents for the tournament.

About the Scrimmagefest organizers
The Maryland Developmental League is a newly founded program that provides all year around league play and tournaments for Recreation, Classic, and Competitive level teams in the state of Maryland. The goal of the MDSL is bring the power of league and tournament play back into the hands of the clubs. The MDSL is ran by club directors who make decisions based on a player developmental model created by the league.
